Year 7 Leader - Mrs S Hurst
I have been a Physical Education teacher at Southlands High School for 9 years and this year I am delighted to take on the role of Year 7 Leader. I am very excited to embark on the Southlands journey with Year 7 as their Year Leader. I am really looking forward to working hard with each and every one of the students to help and support them in reaching their full potential, so they can be the best they can be with a smile on our faces every step of the way.
Year 7 Manager - Mrs B Palmer
I am thrilled to be supporting another cohort of students and welcoming them into Southlands High School. I will be working with an expert team of form tutors who will work extremely hard to make the transition to high school a smooth and successful one. I am also delighted to pair up with Mrs Hurst who will be monitoring student progress to get the best out of each and every individual student. I will be monitoring student attendance, behaviour and welfare. I will be available to parents/carers to share any concerns you may have. I am very much looking forward to the year ahead and seeing students mature and develop during their journey at Southlands High School.
Year 8 Leader - Mrs J Thomson
In my role of Year Leader for Year 8, I will be concentrating on tracking progress and supporting learning so that each student has the opportunity to reach their targets. I will be working with Mrs Ashurst to support their pastoral needs.
Year 8 Manager - Mrs C Ashurst
I am delighted to manage this year group again, building on the progress made in Year 7. As before, I will be supporting students both in and out of the classroom. I will be working closely with their form tutors, teachers and families. I welcome feedback from students and parents. As a non-teacher I am available for meetings at most times if required.
Year 9 Leader - Miss S Gage
I am delighted to continue my work with this year group, working alongside Mr Strain to support in the development and progress of the year group. I will be focussing on the progress of each student in Year 9 and will address any barriers they are facing in order to achieve their full potential. I welcome feedback from parents or students in help to achieve this. I am really looking forward to the year ahead.
Year 9 Manager - Mr K Strain
I am delighted to begin working with the Year 9 group. I will be working closely with an excellent team of form tutors and with Miss Gage the Year 9 Leader. We will monitor and support each student’s learning, personal development, behaviour and wellbeing. This partnership work will also extend to all parents and carers and we would welcome any concerns, queries or suggestions to aid our students happy and safe progression throughout the year. I am looking forward to seeing each student reach their full potential both as an individual and as a team player during this year at Southlands High School.
Year 10 Leader – Miss K Davies
I am delighted to take on this year group for the first time and to work alongside Mr Thornberry to support in their development and progress. With experience of working with previous Year 11 students I will assist in helping students to focus and work hard during the next two years of their GCSE courses. I will be focussing on the progress of each student in the year group and will help to remove any barriers they may face within school. Thus ensuring they reach their full potential. I welcome any feedback from parents or students to help them achieve this.
Year 10 Manager – Mr J Thornberry
I am delighted to continue my work with this year group. As before I will be working closely with an excellent team of tutors to monitor and support students both in and out of the classroom. This partnership work also extends to parents/carers, whom I would encourage to get in touch with me should you have a query or comment. I am excited to see each individual student reach their potential and for them to be happy in their learning at Southlands High School.
Year 11 Leader – Mrs K Rennie
I have worked at Southlands High School for over 10 years. Being a teacher and Year Leader has helped me to develop strong relationships with our students and families. Year 11 is a very important time for our students, I am here to work alongside them and to support them to achieve their full potential.

Year 11 Manager – Mrs A Price
I am also a teacher in the Technology Department as well as Year Manager for Year 11. I feel privileged to have the opportunity, on a daily basis, to mix my passion for pastoral with my love for teaching. I am very proud of our students and believe in involving them with a vast range of opportunities to shape them as the leaders of tomorrow.
