Maths Head

Mr Birmingham is the Curriculum Leader for Maths. He knows that Maths equips students with the skills required to understand and change the world and provides them with the ability to reason, think logically and problem solve, which are all necessary skills required for life.

Year 7

At the start of Yr7 all students will sit a baseline assessment and the result of this, along with KS2 assessments and teacher assessments, will determine to which set they are allocated. Any students who are deemed to be struggling to achieve the minimum standard will be placed into a ‘Catch-up’ group.
 
The same core curriculum will be taught to the majority of Year 7 but it is tailored to meet the current level that they are working at. The ‘Catch –up Group’ will follow a different scheme of work.

Each student will receive one piece of homework per week which is predominantly set from www.mymaths.co.uk

Higher grades: 9 – 4                Foundation grades: 5 – 1
