My name is Miss Corrigan and I have taught Drama at Southlands for 3 years. At Southlands we are keen to encourage creativity and nurture talent. Drama is taught in state of the art facilities so you not only get to experience performing but the technical, behind the scenes aspects of the subject as well.

“Overcome the notion that you must be regular. It robs you of the chance to be extraordinary.”
Uta Hagen

Year 11

In their final year of the GCSE Course students will look at a topic and develop their understanding of all the issues raised through explorative strategies and drama mediums.

They will then move on to study a play text which will introduce new ways of looking at characters and the use of elements of drama to understand a play.

They will finish the course by working on a performance that will be assessed by an external examiner as their final GCSE exam.

The Edexcel GCSE in Drama encourages students to work imaginatively and creatively in a collaborative context, creating, developing and communicating ideas.
